46 Smart, Safe and Inclusive Transportation Technologies At Ford Otosan, we focus on offering smart technologies that will be required in the cities and vehicles of the future. By offering smart mobility solutions that reduce the time spent in the traffic, that are environmentally friendly and safe, and that augment the experience of traveling and driving, we contribute to the leadership goal of Ford. NETWORK CONNECTED VEHICLES By developing smart electronic control units that includes GSM, wireless and GPS connection capabilities and advanced driver support systems, we make life easier for the drivers while also contributing to the reduction of fuel consumption. Thus, we focus on factors that enable smart control of power train systems, functions that support driver behaviour assessments and network connected factors such as remote software update, data collection, and error diagnostics among others. As the result of our activities in the field of network connected vehicles, our next generation tow truck F-MAX was selected as the International Truck of the Year at the 2018 Hannover International Commercial Vehicles Fair (IAA). Thus, we have once more proven the level we achieved in our skills of vehicle and technology development. F-MAX enables up to 7% fuel economy compared to the previous vehicle in its series. Moreover, we achieved an important contribution in national know-how and technology development with our vehicle that may also be considered as a milestone in autonomous vehicle development. With the ConnecTruck application we offer on F-MAX which is the first connected heavy-duty commercial vehicle of Turkey, our customers are able to follow up information related to their vehicles on their screens. With ConnecTruck, we also offer other services such as map aided cruise control, remote diagnosis and software updates. Thanks to the application, for example the screen feature that warns when parts are required to be replaced soon, we are able to prevent unnecessary and early maintenance works. With the services to be developed under ConnecTruck, we will offer our customers value added services not only during and after sales, but during the whole lifetime of the vehicle. Hence, we will integrate ConnecTruck with fleet management systems and develop advantageous products for our customers who will use fleet management systems.
