SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2018 15 We design our production processes considering low environmental impact principle. We achieved a significant progress in developing vehicles powered with alternative fuels such as natural gas, electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles with lower emissions, as well as related engine and transmission systems. The new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), Transit Custommodel, which will be produced and imported as of 2019, will significantly contribute to the mitigation of our carbon footprint. We have signed the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) initiative of United Nations; hence, embrace gender equality in Turkey and take responsibility for its adoption throughout the country. We encourage our dealers and suppliers by including them in various projects. We are the first company in Turkey to become a member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE) which already has Ford Motor Company as a member. We founded SWE Istanbul with the purpose of leading the sector in Turkey in women empowerment activities and including all players to consider the issue. We are listed in Istanbul Stock Exchange Sustainability Index with our sustainability performance as well as the FTSE4Good Emerging Markets Index, which is internationally recognised in terms of responsible investment. During our journey with the vision of becoming the most valuable and most preferred industrial company in Turkey, we put our efforts into including sustainability in all our work processes and carry our performance even further each year. Ford Otosan considers working to build a habitable world and transferring our resources to next generations a responsibility. 2018 Ford Otosan Sustainability Report reflects our works and performance on sustainability in line with this approach.
