14 MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear Stakeholders, The year we left behind was a challenging year in terms of automotive sales in Turkey. Despite the challenge, we broke a record in our sales revenues and net profits by achieving the highest performance thus far. Our export revenues reached TRY 27.3 billion by an increase of 53% and our total sales revenue reached TRY 33.3 billion by an increase of 31%. At a company that produces 83% of the Transit Series vehicles sold in Europe and has become the top exporter in Turkey and automotive sector for four and eight consecutive years, respectively, we have always supported our financial achievements with our strong sustainability performance. We create value for our customers through our employees who assure the quality of production and our well-established R&D culture along with our environmental performance that ensures efficiency. Thus, sustainability is an important part of our job. Whilst the global challenges including climate change, depletion of resources, rapid population increase and environmental pollution create a risk for the continuity of production, they also significantly impact the world we will leave for the next generations. At Ford Otosan, we consider sustainable growth through our environmentally friendly approach that values human among our most valuable goals. We continue investing in Industry 4.0 in our facilities with a particular focus on digital transformation and innovation. This year, we continue putting our efforts to achieve maximum efficiency by integrating Common Culture and Lean Transformation processes into production processes. In 2018, we put 51 additional robots into operation in our facilities. We monitor our production performance through smart production and prepare new projects by estimating malfunctioning before it occurs. We put digital transformation into practice with 23 different projects through iDEAL Platform, which improves our dealers’ processes and customer experiences, wearable technologies, robots operating beside humans and virtual reality studies. In 2018, we crowned our success in vehicle production and development with F-MAX which was presented the “International Truck of the Year” award. Furthermore, 2018 was the year we achieved successful outcomes in in-house entrepreneurship and innovation. Rezervis project, which was the venture of a team consisting of our employees that offers next-generation personnel transportation service, transformed into a separate company that we have participated with a share of 25%. Thanks to the capacity increase completed in 2018, we achieved a production capacity of 455,000 pieces and 374.000 pieces produced with zero accidents.
