SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2018 71 Social Projects with Stakeholders As part of Common Culture and Lean Transformation processes which were initiated with the purpose of reaching the vision of our company and strengthening sustainability management, we try to implement our social responsibility projects together with our suppliers and dealers. STEPTEMBER We participate in the events of Steptember in order to create difference in the life quality of children who fight against Cerebral Palsy disorder. The Development of Technical and Vocational Education As part of the “Cooperation Protocol to Develop Vocational Education” signed between Ministry of National Education and Koç Holding, we donated 71 Ford vehicles equipped with new generation technologies to 71 different vocational and technical Anatolian high schools located in 41 cities with the purpose of developing engine and technical departments of vocational high schools. 2018 FORD DRIVING ACADEMY As Ford Otosan, we have provided 377 students with safe driving training as part of our Ford Driving Academy program. The social responsibility project, which was initiated under the name Driving Skills for Life in USA in 2003, was organized for the third time in Turkey as Ford Driving Academy. The program, which is organized free of charge to instil safe driving awareness and techniques in young people, focuses on hazard recognition, steering, speed and distance management. The training was carried out by our European champion team Castrol Ford Team Turkey, Team Director Serdar Bostancı and 2017 European Rally Champion Murat Bostancı. Young people from 13 universities received training in safe driving workshops led by experts. Our trainings include four sessions: oversteer, distractibility, reflex and alcohol simulation, technical session. At each session, first theoretical training and then practical workshop takes place, and at each session, a different vehicle is used to enable students to get to know vehicle types. The automotive sector can compete worldwide through cultivating talented employees and investing in trainings. We aim to improve the quality of education in vocational and technical high schools. Thus, we have donated 71 high tech vehicles to these specific high schools all around Turkey in order to enable students to practice. Our contribution via the project is not limited in education but also include employment of these students at Ford Otosan dealers and service stations. The Development of technical and vocational education Steptember For five years we have participated in Steptember, aiming to improve the quality of life of children suffering from cerebral palsy. This year, the donations we collected during the campaign made us the company that created the highest social benefits in Turkey.
