SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2018 31 At Ford Otosan, we are among the leaders of the change with our innovative products and services that come out of our R&D works. Our R&D organisation is the leading organisation in Turkey in terms of engineering exportation. In 2018, we were selected the top company in the Top 500 Service Exporters in Turkey survey conducted by Turkish Exporters Assembly (TEA) in the category of Architectural, Engineering, Scientific and Other Technical Services for the third time in a row. Our total engineering export has reached around USD 646 million since 2010. Intellectual Property While automotive sector keeps on changing rapidly in the axis of technological developments, at Ford Otosan, we are among the leaders of the change with our innovative products and services that come out of our R&D works. We are applying for registration certificates on both national and international levels for these works that create competitive advantage for our company and we protect our patented products as part of intellectual property. In 2018, we continued our works in the area of intellectual property rights. Accordingly: • We have a total of 59 patent registration certificates obtained from Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. • We raised the total number of applications to 240 by applying to Turkish Patent and Trademark Office by making two additional patent applications. • We took a step forward to protect our works on an international level by making six applications as part of Patent Cooperation Treaty. • Ford Global Technologies, LLC which manages the intellectual property rights of Ford Motor Company made three applications to the European Patent Office on behalf of Ford Otosan.
